The aim of this presentation is to give an overview about different modelling methods for the digital description of materials and their properties. Besides classical models with a physics background we will discuss data driven, hybrid and multiscale models; a glance at ontologies will round up this overview. Some concrete examples will illustrate the use of these modelling tools from an industrial perspective.
