In these days, the strong influence of environmental conditions on cellular response is well known, and not only the biochemical properties of the surface play a role, but also the topography, roughness and elasticity have a huge impact. Thus, mimic biological environment with synthetic materials gained increasing interest in the area of cell biology, tissue engineering and medicin.1 For this purpose, predominant top-down approaches based on lithography techniques were used. Nevertheless, the demand of more complexity in structure can not only be met with a traditional top-down process, so a combination with bottom-up approaches using various techniques and materials is required.

The presented research focuses on the synergy of nanostructures derived from microphase separation of block copolymers (BCPs)2 and the established processes, like electro hydrodynamic (EHD) spraying/spinning/writing as well as chemical vapor deposition (CVD). In previous work the application of these processes in the area of biomimetic, biocompatible and biomedical application has already been shown.3-5 Within the future work, the influence of stimuli responsive nanostructure by BCP in combination with micro structured material will be investigated with the focus on modulating roughness, topography and elasticity with external stimuli and their effect on the cellular response.
