The research objective is to develop and test a simplified test method for assessing the risk of Hydrogen-Assisted Cold Cracking during arc welding of High Strength Steels (HSS). This test method combines the measurement of diffusible hydrogen content and the evaluation of property degradation from hydrogen using the same samples, while also being directly applicable for the processor. As a result of the investigations, the suitability of the simplified test methodology developed for assessing the risk of HACC during arc welding of HSS is evaluated.
