A synchrotron is an extremely powerful research infrastructure for generating X-rays that makes it possible to analyze molecular and atomic structures as well as surfaces. It allows a much deeper and more precise insight into materials than laboratory-based radiation sources. This makes them an ideal tool for the characterization and development of new materials. This presentation shows practical examples how the unique possibilities of the brilliant X-ray light of a synchrotron can help to improve the performance and quality of materials in a wide range of application areas, such as the energy industry, life sciences or packaging industry.

The Hi-Acts innovation platform is jointly operated by 5 Helmholtz research centers and connects players from industry, medicine and research around the topic of accelerator-based technologies. Hi-Acts offers customized solutions and support to enable industrial users to use research infrastructures such as a synchrotron as quickly and easily as possible for their specific R&D or quality questions.
