In this work, carbon fiber reinforced AZ91 magnesium foams were produced by the melt foaming method. Recycled and coarsely milled carbon fibers were stirred into the melt. Calcium was added to increase the viscosity of the melt and CaCO3 was used as blowing agent. Compared to the reference AZ91 foams without carbon fibers, the reinforced AZ91 foams have higher compressive strength at the same porosity.
