Linking the data ecosystems of the Catena-X and MaterialDigital platforms enables the seamless exchange of material information, improves data consistency and availability, increases efficiency and transparency in the supply chain with regard to the circular economy, and opens up new digital business models for participating companies. The availability of material and component data along the supply chain is one of the keys to sustainable, circular value creation in the automotive industry. EDCar (Automotive end-of-life materials data exchange for circular economy) is one of three PMD-X projects with a duration of only 12 months that are developing the interfaces between the data ecosystem of the MaterialDigital platform and the data ecosystem of the X-World (Catena-X, Manufacturing-X, Aviation-X). The EDCar project focuses on the circular economy in the automotive industry in the Catena-X data ecosystem. The project focuses on two speedboats. Speedboat 1 focuses on the end-of-life (EOL) assessment of vehicle components. The aim is to optimise the R strategy for each component at EOL. Speedboat 2 closes a feedback-to-design loop that enables component design based on cycle data. Each speedboat is designed to make the added value of cross-company data exchange at the end of the project explicitly tangible in order to enable timely industrialisation.
