Results obtained from manufacturing and mechanical testing of [90/45/0/-45]_s Beech veneer laminates are presented to quantify i) elastic and strength properties in standard tensile tests; ii) damage resistance in compact tension tests; as well as iii) size effects in a wide range of open-hole tension tests. The consistent results highlight the high manufacturing quality. Furthermore, the findings of this study build a basis for the development of efficient material models to simulate the elastic and post-elastic response of large-scale wooden structures in order to explore the full potential of using engineered wood products safely and effectively for sustainable mobility.
