Femtosecond laser engraving enables high-level quality and versatility. However, engraving quality and process throughput are the two key elements sitting on either side of the balance. With cylindrical vector polarization and doughnut beam shaping, ablation efficiency can be increased while surface roughness is dramatically reduced. Parametric optimization showed an ablation efficiency increase up to 70% while roughness was 20 times lower.
