Synchrotron X-ray imaging is a powerful tool for tracking gas bubbles in a porous carbon-felt electrode of a Vanadium Redox Flow Battery. Therefore, we designed a setup resembling an operating battery cell to image the electrolyte flow through the carbon electrode. With its modular structure, the setup offers excellent flexibility to evaluate the different design and operational aspects of a VRFB. The results of these measurement campaigns will be discussed in this presentation.
