REACH aims to improve the protection of human health and the environment through an earlier and better identification of the intrinsic properties of chemical substances. It also aims to enhance the innovation and competitiveness of the EU chemical industry. This is translated into a progressive replacement of the most dangerous chemicals once the suitable alternative have been identified. When identified as compliant to REACH requirements, the new processes have to be qualified versus internal Airbus Helicopters technical specifications and then certify versus EASA requirements. This certification process includes internal management though Design Change. This last, has to be well managed in order to induce a smooth and agile deployment through the supply chain. This talk will describe all steps from REACH and EASA requirements, through Airbus Helicopter procedures to qualify and certify, to limitations when it comes to supply chain deployment.
