The effect of laser scan rotation angle on the microstructure and mechanical properties of Haynes 282 processed by Laser Powder Bed Fusion is studied experimentally and numerically. The texture evolution for different laser scan rotation angle was studied. A three dimensional cellular automata finite element (CAFE) simulations were performed to understand the evolution of crystallographic texture with varying process parameters. The samples without scan rotation resulted in a pronounced texture and larger grains while the samples with 67o rotation tended towards uniform texture and fine grains. The texture and grain morphology evolution are explained based on melt pool morphology and CAFE simulations.
