Lithium Ion Battery (LIB) has been widely used in various areas due to its high energy density and output power. Generally, the LIB has been applied to a mobile device, but, with a drastic increment in the electric car market, the demand for the LIB has explosively increased. In order to overcome some limitations, the recycling of materials has been spotlighted due to the fulfillment of both an eco-friendly property and another supply root.

In this study, a standard method to validate reference materials (RM) was developed by using recycling wasted batteries. The RM which was converted from the wasted batteries was analyzed by titration and the ICP-OES for calculating content. Then, statistical methods were utilized to demonstrate the homogeneity and stability of the RM. As a result, the standard procedure successfully demonstrated that the recycled materials as the RM were validated, and the RM will be registered through the approval of the certification institution in S. Korea.
