This work presents the Open Translation Environment (OTE) developed in the EU-Project OntoTrans which provides a scalable and integrative platform that offers the ability to design modular pipelines for interfacing agnostic data bases, digital marketplaces and open simulation platforms on the basis of semantic interoperability. The application programming interface (API) can be easily extended by Pydantic models, which are nowadays one of the most popular libraries for data and schema validation in Python. This simplifies the collaborative development on plugins which are fulfilling a specific task in the complex and multi-parted translation pipelines from syntactic to semantic data structures, which overall enables the successful uptake of different expertise within the materials informatics and materials modelling community into the overall design process of new materials.
