As part of the EU-funded Reincarnate project, BAM has developed an AI-driven platform - SLAMD (Sequential Learning App for Materials Discovery)—to accelerate sustainable material development through iterative laboratory testing, experimental validation, and data-driven optimization. SLAMD has reached TRL-6 and is currently being applied in two industrial case studies: one with a recycling company specializing in construction and demolition waste, and the other with a major manufacturer of cement-based building materials. In the first case, SLAMD is used to optimize composite cements incorporating recycled concrete fines and glass waste. In the second, it supports the development of formulations using processed concrete waste as aggregate, targeting performance across five exposure classes. By integrating SLAMD, both partners aim to rapidly identify optimal material compositions that balance mechanical performance, ecological footprint, and economic viability.
