We imaged controlled porous glass of 400 nm-size pores with high-resolution three-dimensional x-ray microscopy, and we performed in-situ uniaxial compression to study the crack formation. The experimental images were analysed and interpreted in light of numerical predictions of the brittle response of the porous structure.
