Metallic nanoplates give rise to an implementation as high surface area supporting structures as needed in catalyst or electrode design. Due to their electronic and chemical properties they are favoured over semiconductors or insulating materials in a variety of applications. In this poster a simple template free electrodeposition method is presented for the synthesis of homogeneous silver nanoplate coatings with high aspect ratios up to 400:1 from a modified electroless plating electrolyte. While the possibility to use this electrolyte to achieve a dense and homogeneous silver nanoplate coating by electrodeposition on a silver wire electrode has been demonstrated, adjusting the reaction parameters enables the possibility to use different conductive substrates and control the nanoplates morphology in a more extensive way.
