Clinical laboratories need to rapidly and accurately analyze hundreds to thousands of biological samples per week. This requirement means that clinical laboratories are always in search for new techniques to reduce sample preparation labor and increase efficiency. Recently, a new autodilution platform (prepFAST 3) was developed to enhance high-throughput ICP or ICPMS analyses. Here, this enhanced system will be evaluated in combination with an NexION 2000 ICPMS for the analysis of urine samples. Advantages in time, accuracy, and precision will be explored for automated dilutions as compared to manual dilutions of urine samples. Validation of this high-throughput method will be carried out using UTAK normal and high range reference urine samples.
