We studied in detail the applicability and performance of three nanoparticle deposition techniques (spray coating, spark discharge nanoparticle generation, magnetron sputtering) in NE-LIBS mapping. We also established in several applications that the use of the improved signal-to-noise ratio of the NE-LIBS spectra is more promising in situations when it is used for qualitative discrimination (chemical mapping) than for quantitative analysis.
