For the investigation of CDW materials and CDW-related phase transitions, the preparation of high quality samples is essential. In particular, characterization methods such as inelastic neutron scattering rely on single crystalline bulk samples for studies of structure and phonon dispersion, but also transport measurements benefit from orientation resolved measurements. This paper presents the Bridgman approach to the growth of large single crystals, synthesizing the heusler-based intermetallic phase Ni48Co5Mn22Ga25, which combines magnetic as well as electronic and CDW phenomena. Characterizations inlcuding DSC, THz spectroscopy, Laue imaging, EBSD and electrical transport measurements are presented to shed light on the manifold phenomena of this martensitic phase transition.
