The 3D Metal Printing process (3DMP® process) which belongs to the Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is an alternative, competitive, and more environmentally friendly than the presently used conventional metal processing technologies. The principle of the 3DMP® process is to make the final product layer-by-layer from the wire as a feedstock material.
As part of the 3DMPWire Project manufacturing technology of the CuAl-based wires as input materials for the use in additive manufacturing were developed as well as printing technology of elements using these wires. The scope of research and tests included selection and optimization of the chemical compositions of the copper alloys from the CuAl system intended to be used for the production by means of 3DMP® process; optimization of the production technology of CuAl based wires with the specific dimension of 1.0 mm; verification of the manufactured wires by means of the device for the production of three-dimensional objects in Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing.
