Thermo-Calc Software AB
Thermo-Calc’s High Entropy Alloy Database has seen rapid development ever since its first release in 2015. The current TCHEA5 database, released in June 2021, contains the elements Al, B, C, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hf, Ir, Mn, Mo, N, Nb, Ni, Re, Rh, Ru, Si, Sn, Ta, Ti, V, W, Y, Zn, Zr. Almost all of the 325 possible binary systems and almost 500 of the total 2600 possible ternary systems have been assessed many to the full range of composition and temperature. Over 500 phases are included in the database, many as solid solutions. Apart from thermodynamic data, TCHEA5 also contains, molar volume, electrical and thermal conductivity of all phases and viscosity and surface tension of the liquid phase. A mobility database (MOBHEA2) is also available containing all 26 elements available in TCHEA5 and mobility data for the FCC_L12, BCC_B2 and liquid phases. This allows the simulations of knietic effects such as formation of segregation during solidification and subsequent homogenization, joining of dissimilar materials, etc... using the diffusion software DICTRA or simulation of nucleation and growth of precipitates using the software TC-PRISMA.
Details of the database development will be given along with practical examples of its application to discovery and development of novel high entropy alloys.
