The KupferDigital project [1] was an academic project associated with the Platform MaterialDigital (PMD) and had a focus on the semantic representation of knowledge and data concerning material data along the copper life cycle such as alloy development, mechanical characterization, microstructure characterization, thermodynamic simulation and recycling properties of copper and copper alloys [2]. The contribution will show a resume of this academic project and its outcome and will then dive into the content of the upcoming successor project KupferDigital2, where the work of KupferDigital will be complemented by digital twins, a digital product passport demonstrator, inclusion of LCA data in the ecosystem and work on standardization based on the process chain along the production of a conductor demonstrator to roll out the results of KupferDigital into the industry.
