To overcome the challenges of manufacturing Ni-based superalloys by Laser Powder Bed Fusion a clean sheet approach was chosen to develop a new type of Ni-based superalloys. The initial alloy framework will be presented showing synergies between Co and Ta in cast samples. The alloy framework is characterized by a high gamma/gamma-prime-misfit, low gamma-prime solvus temperature and slow gamma-prime precipitation kinetics. Two powder alloys resulting from the initial framework show promising features.
