A cornerstone of the European strategy is the twin green-digital transition, which should lead to a circular, sustainable, and net-zero-emission European economy that works for people. Effective legislation and regulation supporting the digital transformation is currently under way, enforcing Digital Product Passports (DPP) for some industrial areas and products. The DPPs need to get implemented as part of industrial production in a collaborative fashion along distributed production- and value-chains. Accelerating the design, development and production of advanced materials calls for a collaborative approach in digital framework involving different stakeholders in circular economy to support durability, repair and overhaul, reuse, and recyclability of products.

DigiPass EU project has one of overarching objectives to bolster the digital maturity of European stakeholder from different materials development communities, with a particular emphasis on small and medium enterprises (SMEs). In this talk we will present an overview on the inventory of information sources and accreditation processes used by communities and stakeholders involved in advanced composite materials manufacturing and prepainted metals industries. These data repositories should get enabled to contribute to Digital Product Passports (DPP) and to support innovation-by-design approaches. The background of this aim is related to the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) [ ]. This regulation strives to improve for instance on products’ circularity, carbon footprint, and other environmental sustainability aspects, which necessarily need to take production chain data into account. One central idea of DigiPass is to couple these regulatory aspects on products with collaborative innovation processes in products innovation processes on federated dataspaces, thus allowing for a seamless transition from R&D&I to production.
