In this contribution, a holistic approach for validating mechanical models for fiber reinforced materials is presented. A long fiber reinforced polymer is investigated by computed tomography and the microstructure is characterized by means of orientation tensors and fiber volume content. With the determined values, a homogenization approach is used to predict the mechanical properties of the material. Finally, the elastic properties estimated by the model are compared with the results of the digital volume correlation.
