Reliable applications of prototypes and products fabricated with additive manufacturing demand quantitative quality control of polymer powders, including quantitative determination of their mechanical properties. In this contribution, the quantitative nanomechanical measurement of embedded micro-ball-shaped polymer powder particles using the nanoindentation technique with a novel data interpretation method is proposed and experimentally validated. Extension of this method for deep indentation measurements of micro-particles is under development. Further application of this method for the nanomechanical measurement of similar materials, including embedded ball-shaped metal powder particles, is under consideration.
