Networks of tetrapodal zinc oxide (ZnO) microparticles serve as sacrificial templates for creating ultralight aerostructures of hydroxyapatite-functionalized graphene oxide. By employing 3D printing, additional pore-hierarchy is introduced into the structure, potentially enhancing the material’s suitability for various applications. The scaffolds are tested as substrates for bone growth, and their multi-scale architecture is expected to support cell interactions and facilitate the growth of larger biological structures.
