Meeting the raising demand for in-situ and in-operando studies on material systems especially for energy applications, we developed an in-operando investigation platform at the Balder beamline at the MAX IV synchrotron. It provides simultaneously combined X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) with time resolutions down to sub-seconds. We will present recent results applying in-operando multimodal XAS-XRD during a) battery cycling to determine ageing mechanisms of LNMO electrodes and b) catalytic methane oxidation on palladium / palladium oxide nanocrystals.
