Magnetoresistive sensors can deliver the next generation of high-performance magnetic field measurement tools, ideal to leverage applications in navigation, robotics or biomedicine. Having the ability to manipulate selected features on-demand has the potential to push performance limits further and broaden the applications of these sensing devices [1]. In this talk, recent results in engineering key properties such as sensitivity or multiaxial detection will be discussed, highlighting their development stages, alongside challenges and opportunities for implementation [2]. These strategies leverage the versatility of magnetoresistive sensors, starting from their building blocks composed of thin-film multilayers, evolving to device fabrication methods, and exploring potential integration with other technologies. Our aim is to open pathways for designing sensors with adaptable characteristics, thus creating opportunities for future applications.
