A research group at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering of the University of Miskolc has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Wigner Research Centre (Budapest) and CERN to develop and test superconducting materials for the next generation of hadron colliders (the upgraded Large Hadron Collider - LHC and the even larger collider ring that will follow). At the University of Miskolc, Nb/Cu/NbTi multisequence composites have been produced by rolling. The metallurgical aspects are: bonding problems of the layers, design of the proper layer order, ductility of the layers, anisotropy of the formed layers, the influence of the annealing processes. The presentation will cover the investigation of the raw materials, heat treatment and rolling experiments to produce the composite and finalise its functional properties, and the structural analysis of the composite.
