Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) combine the excellent ductility and corrosion resistance of austenite and the high strength of ferrite. Insights to link the microstructural features with hydrogen uptake and trapping were obtained by thermal desorption analysis and permeation tests of the samples with tailored microstructures of DSSs 1.4462. The effect of hydrogen on the mechanical degradation of DSSs 1.4462 were studied via in-situ hydrogen charging slow strain rate tests. Post microstructure analyses were preformed to characterize the microstructural damage evolution and fracture surface.
