Although plastics are widely utilized around the world in the agricultural sector, inappropriate treatment of agricultural plastic waste has led to serious environmental issues. Post-consumer plastics treatment and recycling are crucial for waste minimization and environmental protection. Traditional mechanical and chemical recycling either cause the plastic's characteristics to be lost or demand a lot of energy and expensive chemicals. In contrast, biological enzymes decompose plastics into monomers with great efficiency and under benign reaction conditions, which can subsequently be recycled to create new bioplastics and promote a circular economy.
