The operation of artificial neurons entails the ability to accumulate signal and produce a non-linear response if a threshold is passed. Photonic devices such as lasers inherently can present this property. Therefore, it is natural to explore their adequacy as artificial neurons. In this communication we show two examples where random lasers are tested for their potential as light sources with application in photonic neural networks.
