Super-solidus liquid phase heat treatments under pressure (SSHIP) have been for the first time developed and applied to the third generation CMSX-10K Ni base superalloy. This new art of heat treatment aims to significantly reduce to total homogenization solution time and to enhance mechanical properties regarding those obtained by conventional heat treatment routes. The SSHIP is an innovative, economically and sustainable approach that could be applied to all types of SX superalloys, but especially interesting for those that have a high content of refractory elements and a large eutectic fraction in the as-cast state.
