The increase in global energy demand and severe climate change resulting from the impact of fossil fuels has lead researcher’s to find alternative sources of energy.[1] The implementation of fuel cells based on biofuel ethanol can be one of the promising, efficient and clean alternatives of renewable energy to meet the future energy demand.[2] The implementation of Direct Ethanol Fuel Cells requires active and durable catalyst for the efficient energy conversion of ethanol.[3] Photoelectrochemical processes has also been given huge attention to utilize the solar energy for the energy harvesting processes.[4] Metal oxides and carbon-based materials are a huge attraction to develop cost-effective catalyst due to their high stability, abundance and tunable band edges. Their surface can be modified via decoration with metals or making heterostructures with other oxides.[5] In the present work, we have explored the effect of decoration of metal on metal oxide and carbon nitride structure for their application as a catalyst for ethanol oxidation process. The photoelectrocatalytic activity of the prepared catalyst have also been explored to utilize the sunlight.
