Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) has emerged as a versatile tool for rapid and multi-elemental analysis of various materials, including forage samples. In this work, we quantify the limit of detection (LOD) for key elements in forage samples using FOSS Micral LIBS system specifically designed to determine both macro elements (P, K, Ca, Mg, Na, S) and minor elements (B, Al, Cu, Fe, Mn, Zn). Forages, which are natural plant material for animal feed, require precise elemental analysis to ensure they provide essential nutrients for optimal animal growth, ensuring good agricultural practices. By analyzing a set of well-characterized forage samples, we quantify the LOD for these elements and further refine the LOD derivation using some advanced data analysis techniques. By defining the LOD for these elements, we gain valuable insight into the capabilities and limitations of LIBS for elemental analysis in forage samples, which could help expand its use in agricultural, food, environmental analysis, and other fields requiring elemental analysis.
