Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies are reshaping the defence industry by revolutionizing manufacturing processes and enhancing operational capabilities. The implementation of AM's layer-by-layer production enables the creation of complex, lightweight, and customized parts, with the capability of optimizing military equipment for diverse scenarios. Its rapid prototyping ability accelerates development cycles, ensuring swift adaptation to evolving threats. AM also addresses supply chain challenges, allowing on-demand production of spare parts for increased operational resilience. The technology's cost-effectiveness provides significant savings for defence budgets, fostering innovation and strategic investments. Also, “manufacturing on demand” enables the capability of improving the operational aspects of the float. As the defence sector increasingly relies on AM, it signifies a paradigm shift towards agility, efficiency, and customized solutions, ensuring military forces remain at the forefront of technological advancements.

This work shows the latest advancements in the implementation of additive manufacturing technologies within the three Spanish defence pillars: air and space army, army, and navy. It outlines the development of manufacturing and training capabilities for the integration of advanced manufacturing technologies, together with the investigation of several use cases. Additionally, an analysis of benefits derived from the last are included.
