We introduced line defects, dislocations, into bulk BaTiO3 single crystals in a controlled manner using high-temperature plastic deformation. By combining theory with experiment, we demonstrated the dislocation-based domain engineering for tuning the dielectric and pizeoelectric properties in ferroelectrics.
