The Cu/martensitic (α’-) steel multilayered sheets with various volume fractions of α’-steel layer were fabricated to achieve a high strength and electrical conductivity, those mechanical properties were systematically investigated. Although the strength increased but total elongation decreased with increasing the volume fractions of α’-steel layer, the Cu/α’-steel multilayered sheets had much higher strength-electrical conductivity balances than pure copper and α’-steel. While the ductility of Cu/α’-steel multilayered sheets performed approximately the same total elongation as the α’-steel despite the presence of ductile Cu layers. This result suggested that the α’-steel layer carried more applied load and preferentially fractured.
