Various processes in nature are determined or accompanied by complex interactions of materials with their environment. This can be the interaction of surfaces with liquids, their behavior under mechanical stress or the basic nature of different micro-structures of specimens. Subsequent investigations of such interactions are sometimes insufficient to fully understand the mechanisms during such processes. Therefore, in situ investigations can be performed to get a deeper insight into microscopic properties correlated to macroscopic behaviors of specimens during alteration. In the presented poster, we want to demonstrate the versatility of an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) with various in situ stages for different applications.
